Error while upgrading from 1.8.5 to 1.9.1

Well, I’m getting the following error
PHP Notice: Undefined index: type in C:\testlinkwww\testlink\install\installCheck.php on line 41

Their upgrade instructions are very simple,
They first say to copy the old config files to the new folder.
That doesn’t work exactly because it complained initially about an unknown SMTP variable in the old config file. So I had to comment out that variable.
After doing that it got further along only to fail with the error above.
This is when running the install/index.php which gives you a choice of migrating from 1.8.x to 1.9.1.

Dear fman, Will you help me with this problem. I have not heard anything on this error from anyone.

what is the problem i far from clear.

do following
1. forget your old install
2. backu your db
3. get 1.9.1
4 follow migration procedure

let us know what has happened

many other users have migrated without problems or seems that
