API or code to retrieve generalResults?

I'm working on a solution that will work in conjunction with testlink but I need to find a way to easily retrieve report data (pass, fail, run, not run, etc) for testsuites for a specific set of testplans. The resultsGeneral.php file does this but for only a single testplan. Has anyone had any luck creating an API to do this or have some sample code I could look at to get started?

Any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.
